Yeti DRL Bulb change

Featured Replies

I think I have been through the whole forum looking for the answer to a question a previous poster asked that is is possible to change the yellowish bulbs in the Yeti Daytime Running Lamps to white led's

That topic went so far off topic that it nearly included their Great Aunt's cat.

Question: Has anyone changed the Yeti DRL's to white led's Please

I think myself and some other members were keen on the change, however the only one that fit is from America, the ones the fit on the Camaro, and they are just too expensive to justify.

I'm also very interested in any affordable led option for the drl's.

I think if it's easy & cost effective, I might change our DRL to crisp white LEDs'.

I have looked into this, and the only P13W LED bulbs available are the American ones. As has been said they are very expensive and I am doubtful of their CanBus suitability. Also I thought that someone had tried them a while back and found he couldn't get them to fit correctly.

From my earlier posting on my DRL problems; the car is booked into the Oswestry dealers on the 1st of November for replacement and investigation, courtesy of Will Fisher.

It was me and the base fitment was not a straight fit-an expensive error.

I do not like the yellowy glow given off by the standard P13W bulbs that come as standard on the Elegance. I have seen a number of LED versions of the P13W, however most are rated at 5watts instead of the 13Watts of the filament type. I can understand how the can bus would flag up a bulb failure due to the drop in power drawn. I thought about adding a load resistor to lower the resistance so it was equal to the filament type. Problem here is where you mount it as it will get warm. I then came up with another idea, dissable the DRL's using the indicator / main beam sequence. That done I propose removing the P13W bulbs and tucking the socket out of the way. I would then install the LED versions and feed them direct from an ignition feed. I will give it a try and update the forum

Having had a problem with one of my DRL bulbs, and having dissabled the DRL's with the Maxidot whilst it was sorted out, I'm afraid it still shows up as a failed bulb!

Also remember that because of the CanBus wiring on the Yeti, just adding a feed may not be as simple as it sounds.

Have you seen the resistor and LED bulb kit some of us have invested in from Benzinfabrik.de

Check out WWW.benzinfabrik.de for a kit some of us have ordered. If you use IE you can use the traslate function.

Thank you very much for this info. My car is due in the next four weeks and I'll certainly buy one of these kits.
