Hi all,

Yesterday my 1.9tdi pd's turbo started to make the much louder than usual turbo whistling (sounds like a police siren or a cat crying). However there was no bang, there is no smoke and the power is as normal.

I've been reading a few other posts on turbos and lots say that it means that the turbo is on its way out but as i'm not experiencing any of the other symptoms... is it possible that it is just a pipe cracked or come off???

I really don't want a big repair bill, but i'm worried its going that way!

Form what i have read on here, if the turbo whistle becomes louder then it is a sign of inevitable failure, better to get it checked than have it go suddenly.
