heater issues

Featured Replies

My fabia's heater is either cold or hot - no inbetween settings.

I previously had the evap sensor replaced as the A/C was not working, A/C is now ok.

I have scanned for fault codes and there is none.

I have reset the motors in the heater - still the same.

I have checked the operation of the motor and when the temp dial is turned a couple of clicks the values change to almost fully hot position (used a VAG5053 scanner tool)

Any ideas what is up with this?

Thanks in advance

Oh, forgot to mention its a 2002 Fabia TDI

cheers

It does sound a bit like the air temperature flap motor is having problems probably due to dirt on the positional sensor on the end of that motor. I have had some success with demanding HOT<>COLD about a dozen times, each time waiting long enough for the motor to get driven to its end stops, though you might have messed that idea up by performing basic settings (it will now think that its "dirty" point is an end stop. This worked for my Passat for a few years, but I needed to repeat that procedure last Thursday after turning up the temperature and getting roasted while on a long journey!

Gave that a try tonight, was ok for a few minutes and went back up to hot again.
