Convienience Control Unit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an 07 115bhp. The convienience control unit ( ceiling light unit ) has two white lights and two red led's, the led's are working but the two toggles for the white light are not functioning. Been told the elecs are wired to a computer under the passenger front seat. Just curious if this is a major or minor job. Big dosh at Dealership...but as it seems computer diagnostics involved Im thinking forget backstreet auto sparks and just go straight to the main Skoda Dealer?

The car needs to pass a Private Hire Taxi test soon, and Im thinking the car will not pass unless this unit is fully functional?

Any thoughts,

The convenience control unit (CCM) is not the interior roof light.

The interior lighting and other things such as locking are controlled by the CCM which is in a box under the LH front seat. The CCM and its connections are at risk of getting wet due to the poor design of this vehicle, but for your problem check the wiring nodes in the loom on the LHS under the door apertures (remove trim). All of the interior light feeds are wired together - badly - in a joint which usually goes green and falls apart.

Then check and rectify as required the pollen filter housing outer seal and plenum chamber drains (remove bungs).

Thanks for the prompt reply but Im not qualified for the repair, so it will be a main SKODA dealership that will carry out the repair. If water is getting in can that be repaired at a reasonable cost? Would you say that a good backstreet auto spark could solve this issue with some more guidance added from yourself if possible? Or Would best advice be to get the Skoda dealership to do the job pay through the nose? Lastly if a good autospark states that he can solve the issue what is the min - max price to pay?

All good advice welcome,

Speak to your sparky, tell him it is a similar wiring fault to B5 Passats, he will have seen the exact same problem on those lot of times as it is the most common fault on these cars. But - you MUST sort out the water ingress issues before it wrecks the electronic module that is under the passenger seat carpet.

Sure, just one more query, but before that, I just found the Water Ingress sticky, Super Thread, seems to me thats my issue completely. I think looking at the great pictures on that WATER INGRESS sticky that a good sparky would do that job much cheaper than a main dealership. Now my main concern is ...has my elec module been wrecked?....you could ask a few questions and I will reply to ascertain if the module is gone? Does the fact that the two red LED's are functioning help any....what about the electric windows getting stuck from time to time is that a related issue? If the module has gone that can be replaced right?

I'd start by getting the CCM out, and checking it, and get your sparky to check the loom.

Have a look here.
