Windshieldwasher Fluid.......

Featured Replies

Since I do have Xenons and thus headlight washer jets I just ordered two bottles of the VAg stuff from eBay:

£3,40 plus postage and just under a tenner for two delivered. Can't go wrong with prices like that.

I bought 3 from Allams for £10.80......

I lose out on one due to postage...... and from my place to Allams is a 100mile round trip so will cost considerably more than the postage on two! :giggle:

No local VW/Seat/Audi/Skoda dealers near you?

I have a choice of THREE Škoda dealers... and a few VAG group ones too I suspect. Audi being the closest alas. NO I lie. I can walk to the Porsche dealer! hehehe But NOT buying the VAG stuff from them! hehehe Though they are new to the VAG empire so probably use their own titanium infused £90/bottle screen wash knowing what they are like. :giggle:

All in all I prefer the order-when-I-like comfort of eBay. It gets sent to work and when I come to my desk my package(s) are there waiting. Easier than that you don't get!

Sadly my office won't do that for me. I'm a tight old git. emoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I've used the Lidl concentrate for about 5 years. I tend to buy about 15 litres at a time as we get through a fair bit (3 vehicles). Used neat it's good down to -60 celcius! Never had any problems with it. It's now £1 more than it used to be but it's still good value.

It states on the Container safe for use with Fan Jets.

I was just about to say that. As well as stating it's good for -60°C.

Plus we only use dishwasher tablets not liquid, I wonder if fairy liquid would do or if it would end up too frothy.

I'll stick with diluted lidl or Halfords Apple. If it gets really cold I add a bit of industrial IPA to the mix.

I was told many years ago never to use washing up liquid because it contains salt.

My brand new Skoda Yeti froze it's headlight washers last winter, with the manufacturers/dealers fluid ,when it got down to -17c.

I'll try that -60c lidl fluid this winter...

I know you should never wash your car with washing up liquid as the salt strips all wax protection off your car. I wonder if dishwaser stuff might be the same?

Used to use Halfords double concentrate old blue bottle...-40C (neat) in 2.5lt bottles....now they only make it in -25C (neat) again in 2.5lt bottles :( ........will see how they go this winter as just bought 3 bottles on the 3 for 2 offer! :giggle: .....the old stuff was very good!

re-read my post no. 6 above emoticon-0140-rofl.gif. Not scare tactics (or tic tacsemoticon-0136-giggle.gif) My wallet was made much lighter due to not using their stuff........

It's just likely to block up using skoda own brand than it is using halfords/tesco's/fairy liquid etc etc.
