I've got Hayes stroker ride I think they are and they are fantastic breaks and have been very reliable for me.

What have you swapped them for?

I've gone to Shimano XT (M785's). I've nothing against the performance of the Hayes but after having Deores on my commuter bike & prefering the feel of the Shimano I've made the jump to the new XT's. I've also managed to drop to 180/160 as the XT's are that much more powerful but I should hope so for £260 :giggle: (more than I spent on my brakes for the car)

Matt not to pee on your bonfire but you can get 785's for £134 for both ends from Rose bikes (ex rotors)

I agree, I may have paid over the odds but I didn't have to wait 4 weeks for them and I bought them from my LBS keeping him in business & our relationship strong. I get favours and parts cheap from him so the price of the brakes will balance out  I still needed to buy adaptors/outer cable rubbers/rotors included in the above price

I went from Deore LX to Hope Tech M4 with 180/160 setup. Wanted 204/180, but they would clash with my brain rear shock. Really love them and wanted where possible to support UK engineering. (didn't do that with the car though!)

Heard a lot about Hope components, reliable, good quality. But it isn't cheap is it!

Really good brakes these and at a good price, got them on mine :)
