Wipers Kaput...Covered by warranty?

Featured Replies

Hi,last night while on a long journey the wipers stopped working....they had been ok for the previous 1 hr.We couldn`t continue due to heavy rain so I rang Skoda assistance.Rac came and tapped motor and it started. We got a mile further and they stopped again so I rang same guy up.When he returned no amount of tapping would restart them.As the rain wouldnt stop we ended up on a flatbed the remaining 35 miles home.I rang local Skoda dealer but as it happened near closing no-one called me back.He did mention though the fault may not be covered by warranty and is "wear and tear".....This is a Fabia Monte Carlo 11 plate with 3000 miles on it and a sudden heavy downpour could have killed us! Anyone have any idea where I stand on this regarding Skoda/warranty?Am currently waiting for servicing to ring me back

The car is under 1YO and the dealer is trying to claim "wear and tear" for a wiper motor or linkage fault!!?:swear::wall: Ask to speak to the "Dealer Principal", and if he takes the same line go straight to Trading Standards, do not pass "Go", do not spend £200...

If wipers/motor failed in such a short time, its warranty claim nothing else.

Hit the dealer hard and give no mercy.

Blades = wear and tear... Motor = warranty.

Yep,thanks to all for that

Rang skoda cos no-one rang me back (again) and they now say its warranty.taking it through this aft while weathers good.Looks like yesterday I spoke to guy on desk (servicing was busy) and he didn`t know his facts.

Definate warranty claim ;)
