The boot release switch on my Octavia has become intermitant. It will always release with the remote, but the switch between the number plate lights doesn't always work. Any idea how to go about replacing the switch?

I had the same problem with my 58 plate octy & after 3 or 4 visits to the dealer they replaced a conveneance unit & its been fine since.

Right that answers a question for me . When I started putting the car back together the other week (been a crazy week for personal reasons so ain't been working on it) I started at the boot lid and fitted everything but wipers weren't working and boot wouldn't release and guessed it was because there was no convenience unit in the drivers door. That's put my mind at rest for the momment as was working fine not long back but couldn't remember whether the unit was there or not when it worked.

What's the convenience unit? Is it the 'kicker' that opens the boot of the remote?

No its the unit thats located in the drivers door and basically all the other door and boot electronic functions are controlled through it eg when it goes faulty things like central locking start playing up

That explains why it was £90 when i googled it then. I was hoping it might just be the switch and therefore significantly cheaper!!
