Featured Replies

Hi all. just did a 200 mile journey back to base and as i turned onto camp i heard a big clunk as if i had hit something in the road. Wound down my window and could hear a whirring noise. Pulled up in the car park and i could see a 100m line of oil splattered on the road. the whiring noise i think is the turbo i just dont understand where all the oil is coming from. could it be a seal???

Turbo on my 2001 vrs was replaced in march of this year. bought the turbo from a skoda garage bck at home but not sure if it will stil be under warranty and dont have a clue how i would get the car bck if it was.

plz any help would be greatly appriciated.

I had a cluck and whirring noise a couple of years ago, I didn't have any oil on the road though. It turned out to be a broken engine mount (OS) and one of the pullys was rubbing on the mount.

Yes could be the seal, or the oil return pipe from turbo has come undone. If you had Turbo replace perhaps they left something loose?

Exactley the same thing happened to me, scared the cr*p out of me. Luckily i was coming to a stop at a roundabout. Drove a few yards up road to get out of main road and rubbing noises all over the place. Opened bonnet and could tell straight away main engine mount gone. Just missed cambelt.... :smirk:

Mine went when I was parking, so no damage done, other than the broken lug on the block! I managed to find a repair kit in the states as it seems a little more common out there. I spent a very cold day laying in the snow fitting the bloody thing to. As you said a very worrying noise indeed, but obvious once the bonnet was open.

Damaged the sump?
