2007 Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance - DIY Oil change

Featured Replies

I'm looking at carrying out a DIY service on my Octavia. It has hitherto been on a variable service regime. I'm thinking of switching to fixed servicing due to the nature of the drives and the mileage that I do.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon reading varioud posts about choosing the correct oil. Having checked my service book my car doesnt have a DPF. The book is tagged with 0GG, which I understand is the code for no DPF.

For my car with no DPF, would oil that is 505.01 compliant be good enough for fixed servicing? For example Quantum Platinum 5w-40. Some memers of Briskoda like to use the Longlife variant (507.00, 5w-30) on a fixed service basis. The oil will be chganged every 12 months. Not being an expert, would just like some assistance in choosing the correct oil type.

505.01 is okay to use on fixed servicing.
