New vRS Warranty question

Featured Replies

Silly question I know but with my new Vrs warranty (2.5 years remaining) can it be honoured at any VAG/Skoda dealership, or must it be the one I purchased it from?

Reason I ask is because the EML has appeared twice now relating to a misfire and unfortunately no one has answered my topic in the diagnostic forum so I should probably get it into a dealership.

Will I have to pay a penny to have it diagnosed and fixed?

Any skoda franchise dealer will honour a valid warranty claim.

The only time you would pay for work is repair or replacement to a consumable part.

Cool thanks for the quick reply.

Now to find a decent dealer down South Wales way! I get so nervous about some of these rogue/cow boy dealerships having my car and leaving even the slightest mark on it, or ragging the engine etc. An anonymous friend of mine works at a VAG dealership and the way some of his colleagues treat customer cars makes me think twice...

.............and beware the old.." we've spent 3 hours looking for your fault, can't find it & here is our bill....!"

Yep well put. I'm quite anxious with this vRS and the misfires that are being logged. Having owned two previous 1.8T VAG cars with both having random misfire problems, I know that unless you find a decent dealer and have a lot of money, they can be impossible to find. My previous cars just ended up becoming financial black holes after I kept throwing money upon money at them at having parts replaced, diagnosis performed etc.

Can anyone recommend a decent, honest, intelligent and skilled dealership?

thats modern VAG tech for you, people that still regard VAG as a making of reliable vehicles is living in a bubble.

I KNOW I CANNOT afford to own a Fabia vRS out of warranty for fear of turbo/supercharger/DSG problems which all have the potential of going into the ££££'s for repair/replacement hence i would return my before the warranty is out

Sorry i can't recommend anyone in South Wales, but heard very good things about the Skoda Dealership in Bristol

Under the Block Exemption Rules (BER) you can actually take your car to ANY garage and it doesn't void the warranty.

So, if you know a garage that is extremely reliable (perhaps you've got a friend there or the garage just comes highly recommended) you can take the car to them, get them to use official VAG parts (manufacturer approved parts) to fix a potential issue, and warranty is still valid. You also don't pay VAG prices or get perhaps shoddy workmanship

Yeah good point. I like the piece of mind that I have now having a car with a manufacturers warranty until the end of the PCP term. And thanks for the Bristol recommendation, that's not *too* far distance wise.

Very interesting read, thanks for sharing. Good to know these things!

Okay well it's the Blade Group dealership, not the other Skoda dealer in Bristol, the Blade group offers Alfa's, all VAG group cars and Honda

and the customer service there is good. and my Auntie always drives the 53miles there when she has servicing or problems with her Audi becuase the technicians seems to have a can-do attitude and the head techinican is a real ball breaker and keeps the workers in line there.

she tried three other audi dealerships before a problem she had got worked out with them(the problem if i remember was an issue with the direct injection system on her 2.0tfsi. so might have been related to misfire stuff too)

Griffin Mill Skoda are based just outside Pontypridd (about 10 min drive from Cardiff). I bought mine from them and they were very good. Haven't had any work done (luckily) so can't comment on aftersales/warranty work. Tel No for them is 01443 844699

Hope this helps.

Sinclair Skoda in Swansea have awesome aftersales care and never fob you off. They even showed me what parts they changed. Number is 01792 797500 and ask for Parts. Always been spot on with me and even bought my car from them

Capitol skoda in Newport are pretty good, I had the same issue and they sorted it really quickly

Wow thanks for all the replies guys, it's a great help :)

True.... although he will not be able to take it to any garage to have warranty work done... Skoda will not authorise warranty work to be carried out by non Skoda trained technicians, also this would mean Skoda would have to give out closely guarded technical information to fix the fault on the vehicle under the Skoda warranty which we will definitely not do... but garages can do the work that are not a part of the Skoda network as long as they use genuine Skoda parts, but the customer is not going to want to pay for the work to be done when it's still covered under the warranty, so it's a trip to your nearest Skoda dealer

Can +1 that, ask for Jenny on Service and she will completely sort anything out. She's amazing :) Wish every dealership had one of her

Out of interest LewJo, what was the problem with yours?

Correct and without a main dealer history goodwill warranty after 3 years is unlikely

Hi George, Alex Lawrie Skoda in Liverpool sorted my blown turbo issues under warrenty, and replaced a breake pedal cover with no problems at all (Probably a bit far to go though for you.)

Just out of interest I take it youe EML is a constant issue? It doesnt just come on if you boot it when the engine is cold?

Hey thanks for the post :)

Nah the EML isn't constantly on, it has just blinked twice. First time was after booting it off a traffic light (engine was warm, was like an hour from home), it blinked for 20 seconds or so then went off.

The second time it happened was booting it out of a layby, it blinked for about 5-10 seconds and then went off. Tis weird!

And no, tis not the TCS light :)

Well an update, as per the recommendations here I've got the car booked in at Capitol Skoda in Newport. Having to wait a couple of weeks though because they haven't got a courtesy car in for a while etc.

Hopefully the problem will get sorted, as well as the very annoying rattle coming from the rear of the car...
