Fabia RS Tyre question

Featured Replies

This may come across as a little petty. But i noticed that my car has tyres without rim protectors. Now i believe this is a recipe for disaster. Has everyone else got the same Bridgestones without the rim protector !?!?!

erm brigstones must be new fit then as i didnt have them lol i now have pilot exalto's

What's the difference - I can't quite work it out from the pics unfortunately :(

Also, why is it so incredibly bad? Will it explode or something ??

They help if you are bad at parking :D

Reckon those bottom wheels will really suit the Furby :D

:grumpy:

Same here, I'm

The rim protector is the rubber bead which projects around the circumference of the tyre immediately adjacent to the wheel rim. If you hit the kerb the rubber bead will touch first and help prevent damage to the wheel.

no no it just makes it a bit harder for women to kerb the rims ;)

Ah right. My original tyres didnt have this i dont think, because the wheels stuck out more than the tyre. Still I've managed to never kerb them. Same cant be said of someone else who has had their mits on it though, either on a service, repair job or whatever :finger:

 yeah obviously only for my wifes sake. I am a man of course i can park :)

Rim protectors are very helpful for those slightly misjudged moments, that my wife might have, if you have a 60+ profile it isn't really a problem, but on low profiles it is ideal to protect !

i kerbed mine the other day while diving out of the way of a grit spreader :(

I have just spoke to Skoda, who spoke to Skoda technical, and they told me they fit whatever they have in stock. All the tyres are branded but don't always have a protector on it. So i am gonna call the dealer and see if there are any other new RS's i can swap the wheels with :) !!!

Wish me luck

My vRS came with Continental Sportrac 2 tyres on it, very nice. They have rim protectors! ;)

The second picture is the old Michelin ZX. They didn't come with rim protectors Don't think they've been produced for years...I'll stand corrected

Tnx for the explanation - I can see why it could be useful, saves a fair few pennies if you don't damage your tyres like that ;)

I don't have the problem with my Mrs curbing it though, as she won't be allowed to drive it anyway ;)

I Have The Bridgestones Fitted, Partly Because They Are Good In The Wet. Secondly I Am Crap At Parking ( Hands Up).

No Kerbing Since Ive Had Them..................

Should Be On All Tyres!!

I think you're right... I also believe those are old Dunlop Alloys too, as fitted to SE5 reliant scimitars... although I think it's a volvo in that pic... :D
