HTC and Superb not working

Featured Replies

I have newish HTC Desire S and Skoda Superb. The phone paired with the Car Kit perfectly and has worked for last 5 weeks OK. I then download battery saver software to HTC and connection with car phone is lost, so I un-install the battery software but phone still won't connect. The HTC is connected to the media player in the car and will ply music through the system. I have tried re-pairing HTC with with car kit; carkit gives me the pairing code - I enter - car goes through the motions tells me it's connected then immediately says "no compatible phone connected". I have been told I need to reset my car kit but can't see how. I have tried my old mobile phone nd this still works OK. Any ideas which would help?

odd, I find my HTC Desire (no S) sometimes won't use the phone book but never failed altogether. Have you tired deleting the phone from the Superb altogether and then re discovering it (if that's the right term?)

Tried that. I can't get to the phone bit of the car kit to delete it without pairing the phone. I can see the Desire S in the media player but when I try to delete that the car kit tells be I can't because it is being used as a phone!!! Confusing!!

hmm weird. Turn off the BT on the phone and then try deleting it?

My HTC worked brilliantly for about a 6 months with my Audi, all 500+ names and numbers transferred faultlessly to the cars phone book.........................until......

I had an Android OS update and now the bluetooth works fine, but the phone book no longer syncs. Been to Audi and the car checks out fine :( learnt to live with it as I get a new phone in a couple of months. Maybe it's a VAG thing?

Amanda, there's a free app on the market place, Bluetooth File Transfer, that will allow you to select all your contacts and push them to your OEM Bluetooth kit. It's a good workaround to the problem.

To the OP, Which bluetooth kit do you have as it just says "Superb" in your post. Is it a Superb II with OEM Premium kit? or a Parrot kit or similar.

The Bluetooth kit is the OEM Premium Kit, factory fitted when car purchased 2010.

Ahh, it's a SuperbII then.

On the phone, if you go to Bluetooth and look at paired devices you should see the Skoda BT kit listed, if you hold your finger on the paired device (whatever your BT kit is called) you should get a menu that has "options" as one of the ....options. You can then see under the options if it is currently setup only for media, and there is a checkbox that may be unchecked for phone.

It's worth a look

ooooh thanks.:) Downloaded it and will try tomorrow. It might be a little tricky though, as I dropped my phone a couple of weeks ago and smashed the screen very badly. Still I like it's Steam Punk look of sticky back plastic and yellow gaffa tape. .

update: I am currently in my PJs (or something similar ;) ) and so I ain't going outside :D but it appears you are right about being able to at least attempt to push my contacts through. According to my phone I have over 1,100 though!!! (I think that includes email address as well though)

Here's a guide I did for the Toyota Owners Club using a desire, just ignore the references to TNS 510, that's the Toyota nav system

1. Go to the Android Market place and download "Bluetooth File Transfer"

2. Pair the phone with the TNS 510

3. Go to the Telephone menu on the TNS 510 and select the Settings option

4. Go to Phonebook and Transfer Phonebook (At this point the BT connection will disconnect, this is normal)

5. Now go to your Android phone, and launch Bluetooth File Transfer

6. Accept the license agreement and then ignore the main screen

7. Press the MENU button on the phone

8. Select the MORE Button (Marked with 3 dots and on the lower right corner of a Desire MENU option)

9. Look halfway down the screen and select "Send Contacts"

10. You can now select All contacts, or tag the ones you want to transfer or transfer by group

11. IMPORTANT - Select the middle button, "Send as Multiple"

12. Contacts get sent, shut down the app and then the phone will reconnect, check your contacts, they will all be in there

My menu for my contacts doesn't seem to be quite the same as this. But I found if I went to the BT prog and hit menu, more and then send contacts, I can get to the same point. As long as the car wants to play ball, we may have a winner :)

You're a genius. All working OK and paired with the car system. Thanks for your help.

:p

Right back in 10 or so................

Right! Well after a very long 10 mins I have to admit defeat in this round :( My car doesn't support the right push profile.

So I have tried removing various profiles, deleting everything and repairing etc. In fact I doubt the car will ever start again after all the buggering abut I have just done :(

Sorry :(

Sorry :(

It's the thought that counts.

his thoughts seem to have involved you having someone's eye out so I'm not sure you mean that :giggle:

must try this on my parrot kit in the Vee Dub later, it refuses to play ball with HTC phones

  • 4 weeks later...

Since I got my Superb II in May11, my HTC Desire has connected, but never really been reliable. For a while it seemed to work fine if the WiFi was switched off before I got in the car (ie: before it was detected for pairing), but I wouldn't say even then I had "full functionality".

Anyway, as the phone was out of warranty anyway, I decided to take the plunge and "root" it, and I installed the Cyanogen Mod v7 ROM, and then tried the Android rSAP trial for BT connectivity, and I have to say it works perfectly for me! I have been playing with it for a week using the trial copy downloaded from Android Market, which maintains a connection for 10mins so that you can test, and as a result of much satisfaction, I have purchased the full rSAP app for about £7.59 I think.

It works like a dream, cheaper than parrots or new BT modules, and my HTC Desire now connects using the "Premium Bluetooth" functionality, uploads the phonebook, and is generally at least as good as my (work) Nokia 6300 in the car.

The rooting and rebuilding instructions are very clear, and everything worked first time for me, with no problems:

Using these instructions...

I've dropped my Desire from a height and the screen is completely smashed. It's all stuck together with Duct tape and plastic :D still doesn't sync with the car any more though :(
