Seat memory problem

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, this is my first post ! I'm Belgian so please forgive my English...

I'm a happy owner of a new 1.2 DSG Yeti Experience, but I recently encountered a little problem. It's not a big deal, but it's really annoying me...

I chose electric seat to have the memory feature. I'm very nitpicking about my seat settings, so when my wife uses the car with another setting, it's really a bonus for me that I know I will have my settings back thanks to the memory (linked with the keys).

But I noticed that the memory keeps all seat settings, except one. Miirrors, height, angle, everything is kept in memory, but not the main setting: the forward/backward.

Has anybody already encountered this problem? Is it the way the feature is meant to work (which would be nonsense)? Is there a reset procedure that I could try?

Thanks in advance for your help!

It should put the seat in exactly the same position - including forward/backwards. See the dealer!

Don't have electric seats but welcome and congratulations on your very fine English.

Good choice of car and of forum!

I had these in my Octavia and assume they should work the same in the yeti.... So all the settings should be kept in the memory. Head back to your dealer as something is not right.

And PS welcome, and perfect English, although as a scotsman I'm maybe not best qualified to judge :-)

I really must read these Topic Titles properly! I thought this was a thread all about the SEAT vehicles such as the Leon and Ibiza!

I have been ignoring up until now :giggle:

There is a thread in the Superb 2 forum with a number of owners having the exact same problem. It's believed to be a faulty batch of motors/control units produced around June or July 2011. Dealer warranty job!

Thanks for all your kind replies!

So actually I'm not alone to face this problem. The bad news is the solution implies changing all hardware (sensors, motors...).

Unfortunately, dealers in Belgium offer an horrendous service and I always try to avoid them. They usually don't know anything about the cars they sell. I bought my Yeti at the only authorised dealer in Belgium (the official importer, D'Ieteren), and I can tell you almost all their answers to my questions were wrong.

They will probably deny the problem ("this is a normal behaviour"), if I insist they will keep my new car for weeks, and in the end if they agree to replace some parts, there are great chances they will damage or dirty my car or put new seats with a different leather hue. So I think it's not worth the hassle, I'll try a memory reset and if it doesn't work, leave it like that...

Readingl this forum, it seems their are some very good dealers in UK... I envy you. ;)

wow, that is bad. There are exceptions I am sure but generally in the UK Skoda dealers have been known for better than average customer service.
