Rear Wiper modification

Featured Replies

Ok guys well when i got my octy it didn't have a rear wiper and the glass was a solid sheet, but i then got a sheet of glass with a wiper hole and then fitted the motor and wiper arm, but this is where i've got myself into a pickle

Does anyone know how to wire up a switch to make the rear wiper motor run, i was thinking on using an other heated rear screen switch to activate my rear wiper.

but i don't know what wires activate the wiper motor all i know is the brown is the negative and the other 3 wires run through relays and the wiper stalk.

So confused. even the hhaynes manual confused me even more lol!

Normally the car would come with the wiper loom even if a wiper is not fitted. I would doubt that the std loom does not have this. Maybe it is tucked out the way. I can send some pics of the wiring and loom if need be to help.

In terms of the switch to activate this same again the right hand stalk should have rear wiper setting on it. Normally to activate it you would press the stalk forwards. Are you sure the stalk does not have this. I would not expect Skoda to have a none rear wiper stalk??

i know what your saying, i've got a scrap tdi which i took the wiper motor from and it's the same loom as the number plate lights it's there, but it's missing the 3 wiper wires from that loom, my wiper switch doesn't have the rear wiper function only the interval setting for the front and front wipers, i thought on changing the switch but it's more hastle than i thought as my wiper stalk has the trip computer function so i would lose that if i swaped the switched from one to the other, i thought that the loom would have been the same but it wasn't. just the 3 wire missing thats the only difference, so i took 3 missing from the loom and fed them down the boot into the rear left quater in hopes that i can wire it up somehow, i'll upload the page from the haynes manual with the wiring maybe one of you can better figure it out.

but yeah thanks bowders no need for the pics my friend as i've got my old tdi for the physical refrence :p

Ok no worries, Removing the stalk is no too bad. Have to remove steering wheel and airbag, done this many times. You should not loose trip computer as the replacement stalk with rear wiper should have this also. It might be easier in the long run to try and use the correct stalk, but again if you don't have the wires to feed to the stalk kind of defeats the object. Personally IMO I would not bother with rear wiper if I had to go through all that.

I have actually removed my rear wiper/asm as got fed up with them getting water ingress and playing up. Was on my third one. I just blanked the window hole and spray rain x on rear window.
