Ping/Dong/Twang from 1 month old coilovers

Featured Replies

Had brand new KW V1 coilovers and all bushes done at unit 18, brilliant service & brilliant job without any problems, job sorted. The car settled a little low so I paid a local 'tuner house' business to rasie the front for me, just a touch, as I would have no idea what I would be doing. Soon as I picked up the car from this local business I started getting these Ping/Dong nosies while turning at very low speeds, at the time I thought it was the springs settling back in... a week later they are still there. Anyone know what this could be? I've searched the net for answers but they have been all over the place. :S

I sometimes get a twang on full lock occasionally? Are you getting them all the time?

How low is it?

Where the strut tops replaced when they were fitted?

No, only the coilovers and bushes where fitted, cars only done 50k and 2005. isnt really low, now have no problems in multi-stories and speed bumps. Doesnt have to be on full lock to happen either.

I was thinking strut tops - if you are stopped and turn the wheel side to side does it do it then too?

Are these the top mounts yeah? Yeah it has done.

Yeah strut top mounts and bearings?

In that case I'm not sure if you arent stupidly low - I have the same kit and have no problems

Had the same problem with mine,it was the the strut top mounts and bearings

PingDongTwang actually sounds like a reputable Twaineese manafacturer lol

Top strut mount bearing defo. Or at least your best bet. Bearing not allowing the spring to turn freely when turning so instaead the coil spring twists then you get a sudden release. And thats what that noise is.

Dont mean to worry you but I have seen it where its actually snapped the spring
