dsg issue

Featured Replies

Guys bit off a worry, last night was on a final leg off a journey home, was using d mode but got stuck behind some one doing 30 in a 70 so could see it was clear, so dropped the car in to sport then over took but the the dsg went very weird. the numbers started flashing on the mfd it wouldnt go in to gears 2 4 and 6 but would use 1 5 and 7, so once off the main road pulled off and turned on and off and all is well. what could have caused that???

Ques: what could have caused that???

Ans: 1)VW build quality

2)An Under developed twin clutch automatic transmission made by VW

3)Genuinely no idea

From my understanding of the DSG gears 1,3,5,7 are opperated on one clutch and R,2,4,6 are on the second clutch. It sounds like for some reason one half of your DSG has taken a dive. It probably worth investigating with the dealer.

Also I'm not 100% sure on what yopur discribing would it allow you to shift through the odd gears?

My advice would be get it to the dealers and if the mechatronic unit is faulty/failing (flashing gear display seems to indicate mechatronic failure)get on the case with customer services immediately. My mechatronic unit failed at the start of Oct and it took 4 weeks for them to replace it. It seemed that it took over 2 weeks for Skoda to actually authorise the dealer to order the part - then a 7-10 day wait for the part to be built ( down to 5 after many "colourful" 'phone calls, emails to Skoda HQ etc etc) and then a couple of days to fit the d*mn thing.
