51 plate fabia engine k series ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys i have a 51 plate fabia classic 1.4 petrol,I have cooked the motor beyomnd repair and need a replacement ,i have been told it is a k series ,will a rover one fit any clues on engine code ,will any fit ? many thanks in advance

As far as I know, (coming from a Rover background), the Fabia was never fitted with a K series engine.....

The 1.4 in the Fabia was based on Skodas previous line of engines if 8v, and VW's previous engines if 16v.. I'm 99.9% sure they share absolutely nothing what so ever with the Rover K series.. Who on earth told you that?

I had a K Series Rover and it will certainly not fit in a Fabia.

Thanks for replys the garage told me it was k series as it has loose cylindr liners that are like the k series i was informed that they tried this engine for a limited time ,

If the garage told you that, then I recommend you find a VAG / VW group specialist in your area and get a second opinion as well a quote to replace the motor from them instead.

That's gotta be close to the cost of just buying a new car though, once you've totted up all the man hours and delivery bills. You can get some pretty cheap 2000/2001 1.4 classics on eBay now.

Thanks for the replys,I have found the engine code its aqv ,seems not a common motor any suggestions in the southwest where i could find one ?,will an aqw fit ? thanks in advance

I think that you should double check your engine code. It will be on each of the two data stickers, one should be on the inside cover of the service book and the other stuck to the boot floor, it might even be listed on the registration document as part of the engine number.

The AQV is a 1.0 litre engine, which in a Fabia was never officially on sale in the UK. The AQW is the 1.4 8 valve engine.
