Control system for exhaust gases

Featured Replies

Picked up a 56 plate 1.4 TDI this morning from Progress Skoda at Bedford. 47000 on the clock. Filled up after 25 miles, blasted light came on after another 5 miles. No change in performance- just the light glaring at me from the dash. Bought for my daughter and it was going up to Leeds tomorrow to replace an 06 Grande Punto. Any offers as to what is likely to be wrong?

Without a code scan to get a fault code(s) it's mostly guess work. Probably EGR valve, as they are a common failure.

Cheers, mate. She will have to take mine back to Leeds and the Tdi will go back to Progress Monday PM.

Moggytech,

I did this as per another thread (Clear codes. Switch on ignition for 10 seconds but don't start engine, switch off ignition and remove key. Then start car.)and it cleared the light. Does this clear the code or just put out the light?

I'm not sure if it clears the code/light or not but I would have got the fault code scanned before clearing anything just so you know what it's complaining about. The light will come back on after a while though.

I am having the same trouble with that light and it is my EGR valve that has gone as its leaking oil:

The code will change state from active to pending. If it doesn't return after 10 starts and driving above 30MPH, the code is stored as a previous 'instance'.

Many thanks, the light came back on very quickly anyway when my daughter took it round the block.
