Aftermarket stereo

Featured Replies

Guys, is it a big deal to remove the factory stereo? I have just bought a yummy Clarion NX700E double DIN unit and it's something I am very much looking forward to installing (DIY).

It's got everything, Ipod, Bluetooth, satnav, DVD (least likely to be used!)... you name it.

Do I need an ISO aerial adaptor?

Any recommendations on the steering wheel stalk adaptors that are out there?

Thanks to all!

Someone must have changed the OEM stereo for an aftermarket one!!

I need some responses, please. I got my new stereo today, on board navigation, etc. Ebay search for Superb stereo removal tools come out with no hits. And I don't think that the passat ones are compatible, but they might be, so any advice is appreciated. I don't want to mail order them only to be disappointed. Are they the same as on the other Skodas, e.g. Fabia, Octavia? Those cars are much more common so more likely to find the right radio removal keys.

Is it your OEM stereo,Skoda Symphony?

If so, it is really easy to replace.

You need this :

And if you have MFD then you need this :

All in all it is very easy job to do.

Just hook up and thats it, I think you dont need anything extra to do.

VW=Skoda=Audi=Seat

HVALA MILANE!

Thanks for the advice.

I have the symphony indeed, and read on other forums that a cut up credit card trimmed to size can easily do the trick of removing the stereo. So being a proper cheapskate, I will try going down that route.

Can't wait until the weekend to install my new Clarion NX700E.

Will post some photos here when done.

Glad it doesn't need a speed pulse input, because that's the one I always struggle with.

There is a loom available, but as it is the space if very limited in there with a double DIN stereo, so decided against purchasing a steering wheel adaptor loom. Can live without it.

Clarion NX700E is the unit. Ipod in glovebox, on shuffle most of the time. GPS aerial in top of windscreen, cable routed through drivers side A-pillar.

The system is very good indeed.

You can either go to a Clarion dealer, or ebay it like I did!

Thx :-)
