Renewal was stupidly high

Featured Replies

Went for a renewal and Flux direct gave me renewal price on my octavia 3rdPFT egsactly the same price as last years ... oo yes very nice in this economic climate .. spot on. around £1100

Well not so much, when 5+ insurers offered me a price fully comp for less

The best were with me as proposer and main driver and both parents as named drivers on my policy:

Elephant.co.uk: FC- £710 3rdPFT- £730

Admiral: FC- £750 3rdPFT- £740

Flux direct (now my old insurer) quoted for fully comp ... £1600, and £1100 for 3rdPFT renewal.

So younger drivers of the nation wanting to insure their turbo there is another way. Elephant.co.uk and Admiral (theyre the same company) are consistently less, im quoted £1300 fully comp on a subaru impreza (my next car),and £1400 for a honda s2000

How does Adrian Flux stand on the younger driver? ... im 22 can you be realistically competitive to the younger folk?

I've never bothered with the so called "enthusiast" and modified car expert insurers... they have always been consistently higher for me. Like you have discovered, Elephant/Admiral are massively cheaper so I will stick with them. They will even price match between the price as they are sister companies. My renewal in January with Elephant is looking to be £529 and like you I'm 22. I also have 6 points and the car is the 1.4 TSI VRS. Insurance is weird.

Wow Wales must have cheap insurance - I am paying £550 on mine with 7 years NCB and no points and i am 29!

Weird huh? :S

I am with admiral too and just got a renewal quote. Im 22, 5 years driving, 3 years no claims and a 32 grand claim against me for driving my old hyundai coupe through a restaurant wall :giggle: and got quoted £595 fully comp on my octy vrs 1.8 turbo! I think the skodas slipped under the net when it comes to performance cars as out of interest i changed the car on my policy to a mk4 golf gti (exactly the same car under the skin) and got quoted £1,020 :o
