Got me some Audi Esque interior illumination!

Featured Replies

Just fitted some led lamps in the door pockets, and door handles, just simular to the A1!

I just ran 2 pure white led's and a resistor on each front door, and connected it to the window light switches, found loads of useful how too's on google that many do to their passat's, bora's golfs, etc....

they look blue in the photos but their white, it ties in nicely with the white needles, and the maxi dot!

I thought it was a pretty good attempt, however the door pockets are a little too bright, I should of located them at the rear of the door pockets...another day of playing and it was getting dark!!

but for now it looks like this!

Thanks :) yeah ill need to point it down a little more I think!

Looks good.

I wonder why Skoda dropped the silver trim around the door handles and vents on the later cars. I like our HTP's interior better than the 2012MY TSi's. Later car is all black dash, all black door cards, dark seating.

I like the ambient lighting on my Passat, variable led illumination from the roof area lights up the silver on the centre console, and gear lever area. Might be worth trying something similar on the Fabia.

I'm sorry, I'm not really a fan :(

Thats alright :)

I know the door bins definitely need playing with sometime during the week.

Lee, is that the Skoda Superb stlye *CatVision*? with amber led's that illuminate from the courtesy light bit in the roof?

Yep, that's it, not sure what VW call it, it dims when dimming the instrument lights.

Yeah, I've seen someone on ebay sell those units for about £45 quid, and then you need an adaptor for about £14... :)

I know what you mean about the all black dash, thought I do like the little chrome bits the mk2.2 has :)

I actually like that  but I'm way to scared to even consider attempting it myself :)

Feedback wise from me so that it's not all a negative. I think that if you did what luke has done to his dash and make yours white + red (Like mine). This would then suit the car.

I don't think I've seen yours or Lukes yet,

I was going to use green.... but I thought it would of been a bit too harsh...

Thanks, :) I was a little worried at first, but It was quite easy to disassemble, and assemble it all back together.

all with a glue gun, and a Dremel made life a lot easier! :D

Looks great!

Do you have any links for your leds/resistors?

Or any links to how-to's that you used.

and as for connecting the led's just make sure you connect positive to the blue and grey wire, and the negative to the brown wire on the window switch feed.

it wont work with any other wires, they then come on as soon as you turn the lights on. took me about 2 hours tops to do this mod :)

LED's are nice and cheap and so are resistors, with some heat shrink to protect the wires once I soldered them :)

I like but as you said the door bin light should be less bright. I'm soooo tempted to change all the green lights on my car into white ones and the needles into red.

I quite like the concepts here - food for thought at least!

Just as an aside, Citroen have sensor-operated lighting in the door bins on some models, so the light comes on when you stick your hand in. Obviously being Citroen the sensor works most of the time.

I do admire Citroens innovation! I'm relocating the door bin lights to the bottom out of sight, I'd love to do the rear doors too but im not sure where the power feed is for the rear....it looks really smart at night though - apart from the door bins :)
