Central Locking 2000 (X Reg) 1.6 LS Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all I have been a silent member of the forum for some time now & never needed to ask for advice till now as our Octavia gives very few problems, but now it is performing strange things with the central locking, where by if you slam the N/S/F door the central locking will activate & lock all the doors including the hatch, it will also activate the central locking sometimes when driving it's the wifes car & she has been locked out twice now in the last few weeks can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this problem also when you unlock the hatch it does not always activate the door locks & when this happens the hatch lock is very stiff to turn the key in & it wont lock the doors it does however lock the hatch if operated from either of the front doors

Many Thanks

Jim

Sounds like a bad microswitch in the door lock.

When the door lock isn't working, can you operate the window on that side?

Does the door respond to the lock/unlock switch on the driver's door armrest (if you have one)?

The Octavia is a 1.6 LS model with manual windows & no button on the drivers door armrest in all other respects the central locking works as it should just that when you slam the passenger front door it can but not always lock all doors if you use the key then all locks respond as normal & occasionally the doors will lock/unlock when driving
