Number Plate Blunder!

Featured Replies

Owned my Vrs for 1.5 weeks now and received a letter from Retaina group about security coding anyway my girlfriend read the letter and we had an argument about the number plate ending in YMX. Just looked at the car and it ends in YMY. Did a check and these plates should be on an octavia! All my insurance, tax log book its YMX. Dealer has put the wrong plates on! still thank god I got the retaina letter through!

Rich :D

LOL

You probably could have got caught speed through a camera and got away with it too! Some poor guy waiting for an Octavia probably would have your points!

IIRC a similar mistake was made with the Autocar test long termer.

Sure was - just dug out my copy and it took the importers a whole month to notice their mistake :(

Whats the dealer said then?

Happened to a mate of mine when he got his Honda Civic.

Got it home from the dealers and realised that the number plates didn't match

DVLA thought my car was a 75bhp auto fabia when I first got it....

All sorted now. They just remade the plates and stuck them on. They have contacted the other guy to see if his plates are correct.

While there I seen my old scoob with private plates didnt take them long to sell that! The service guy told me the chap that has brought it is complaining of some noise during braking, I wonder what that could be?

I had this problem about two years ago when i purchased a new citroen C3 (dont ask what made me buy it).

Never noticed it had the wrong plate until i took it to skoda to part ex it.

After running the plate through their computer it came back as a vauxhall

Took the car back to citroen and they couldnt give a toss, just bolted the right plate on and sent me on my way. :finger:
