Octavia Greenline are they as fuel efficient as Skoda Claim

Featured Replies

Thinking of buying either a new Octavia Green line 1.6 diesel or a Seat Leon Ecomotive with the same engine are these fuel figures really achievable?

Seat also claim the same fuel figure for the Leon Ecomotive .

Comments please and which would be the better car ? I am leaning towards the Seat because of the Vat free offer which would give me a new Leon for £14900

The economy figures are slightly optimistic, they are gained by the cars having much longer gearing than standard and both feel underpowered as a result. My Dads Fabia greenline needs to be driven around town in 3rd as its not possible to use 4th below around 40mph. Great on the motorway though, and thats where the greenline excells.

My Fabia Greenline II is about 10% down on the claimed figures, even though I generally drive in a very economical way.

Driven like a regular car (at 70mph) and with a bit more town work it's 20% down.

I know it's not the same engine, but they do seem to be a bit optimistic.

Treat the urban figure as what you'll get driving sensible. That works for me.

I've got a Greenline 2 estate on test this weekend, until tuesday. Can't get the figures close to claimed so far. 55mpg on a good run home from work (over the pennines to be fair) but urban driving, getting about 48mpg.

Very impressed with the car so far, and I was dreading it!!
