I bought a new universal cigarette lighter base that is illuminated in blue instead of green, how would I remove/disconnect the old one? I hate just tugging on interior bits not knowing exactly how stuff is done.

Think the easyest way is to remove the centre console, if u pull the ash tray out theres 2 or 3 torx screws under there, pull out the cup holder at the back and theres another 2 screws under that the pop out the strip below the handbrake then the console should lift out, its abit of a pain

Yep as said the console will have to come out, it's not that hard tbh. Also watch out for the ash tray light when re-fitting as it can be a bit of a pain as well. Reminds me actually the bulb in mine has gone and need another one really.

Lol, I only found the light in mine a few weeks ago while cleaning the car!

Only had it 2 years though :-)

The easiest way is to insert the special tool into the socket that opens up the side tags and then you just pull the socket up.

Other than that centre console loosened and unclip from underneath.
