G60 flywheel

Featured Replies

Hi,does anybody know where I can exchange my used G60 flywheel or have it resurfaced in Kent?I bought it to use it for my dmf to smf conversion, but the friction area is not straight and dont want to risk taking gearbox out twice.

Any help is much appreciated.

most engineering companies should be able to give it a skim to get it level, or order one from vw and get £30 exchange

Have you got any pictures of it? Might be worth a quick glance to see if it's even worth bothering to get it refaced.

I rang vw and skoda in Tunbridge Wells and none of them have one in stock and can not get one.I will take some pictures tomorrow, but it is difficult to tell by looking at it.You would have to touch it and feel how uneven the surface is.I am worried that the cluch will judder if I use it as is.

If it's rough to touch or you can feel any ridges with your finger nail then it will need attention, it would accelerate the wear of the new clutch kit hugely.. But that's not the only factor to consider, when they get badly scored you get localised heat spots which are very hard which don't machine very nicely.

When they skim it they will need to remove the dowel pins so the same amount can be skimmed from the pressure plate mounting flange so be prepared to have to buy new dowel pins because they often are a pig to get out

vw dealer will let you order a new one on exchange basis

I just went to Skoda with part number for it and said order me this and ill pay the surcharge because i dont have one to give you,

They were more than happy to help, even got some discount on it because i work in trade,

Dont believe they carnt get one they can they just carnt be bothered to do abit of work,

Remember to get flywheel bolts and clutch pressure plate bolts aswell because the ones on dmf are different

don't go for dmf - smf is fit once solution, dmf will fail again at some point
