Do Skoda dealers remap their demo cars?

Featured Replies

I got the dealer to type an 'additional' warranty that simply states that all engine modifications carried out by or on behalf of ****** **** are covered by the 3 yr standard manufacturer warranty and should any warranty issue arise as a result of the modifications to the engine then they should contact ****** **** for further details. - very rough translation coz I'm at work and cant remember the exact wording :P
You did the right thing to get it in writing. Other members buying modified cars from dealers would be wise to follow your example.
Just wondering. Obviously all engines loosen up with mileage' date=' although I've never found it to feel like more than a handful of horsepower, and I don't think there is anything wrong with the wife's one, but it doesn't feel as fast as the demonstrator did. 3rd gear feels a bit too long geared, and there isn't really much in the way of torque.

Don't really feel excited about driving her car again, will see how it loosens up though. Was really looking forward to it after the demo test drive, the rest of the car is very accomplished for the money, but the performance leaves me cold, whereas our Puma doesn't, although that is more chuckable, gives more feedback, small car feel etc.

Company car, so tricky to remap, could be insurance implications etc.[/quote']

The demo i test drove was re-mapped, i was told this before taking the car out.

I can't claim that getting the warranty in writing was my 'idea'. That advice came from a member of this forum. N1

Are there any Skoda mechanics on here?  Can the dealers tell if a car is remapped?  I'm waiting for delivery of a new diesel vRS and am trading my 10 plate in against it.  I had this mapped at Maptech in Brigg and it really brought the car to life (and gained me 2-3 mpg too) - my worry is the new one will feel underwhelming by comparison!
