Side Lights

Featured Replies

Can any body help with the following:

When the lights on the superb switch on in auto mode, only the dipped headlights operate.

Is this correct or, should the side lights also come on.

AFAIK that is how they are supposed to operate.

the sidelights should only really be used as parking lights anyway.

do you also have DRLs?

the operation of auto headlights is still the same, just curious

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

To be honest I am confused with the lighting layout of the elegence.

The handbook mentions, parking lights, and side lights in the same sentence.

The lights I am trying to identify may be neither, they are in the same housing as the DRLs.

Are these just fog lights ?

Occasionally when the auto lights come on, one of these comes on and then goes off after a short time.

Any info would be appreciated.

Ignition off - Key's out - Indicate Left - Left Sidelight (w5w in main unit) front and rear come on (Car bong's at you as you leave)

Ignition off - Key's out - Indicate Right - Right Sidelight, front and rear come on (Car bong's at you as you leave)

In the Fog lamp housing - There's a DRL and a Fog light. (2x bulbs)

DRL Run when all lights are off

Fogs are used as turing lights, when on half lock or indicating, both below 40kmph - Both come on when engage revers

In the Main head lamp unit - If you have an elegance - you have 1x HID Unit (Dipped and main beam) 1x Halogen (Main Beam assist) 1x w5w side light and 1x Indicator

Car runs w5w and HID when on Auto.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot for that.

It solves all my queries.

I just realised that each time I saw what I thought was a "rogue fog" coming on, I was actually turning and facing a reflective surface (shop window). On some occasions I had also noticed both fogs on while reversing.

Your explanation solves everything.

You have also saved me making an idiot of myself with the scoda dealer.

Thanks again
