Passenger door locks itself

Featured Replies

Having some problems with my passenger door.

When opened to the first hinge or wider, it locks all doors of the car. If the door is ajar it doesn't do this?

Few bits of relating info:

-My dash recognises the door is open as normal

-Interior lights come on as normal when opened.

-Upon the passenger door locking the car, it doesn't turn off the interior lights (like the fob does)

-It will lock with the key in the ignition

Its really weird! Can't be the switch as the lights and dash warning work fine, plus the hinge shouldn't affect it, door loom looks fine from the outside.

Anyone know what it could be?

I would suspect at the point the door is opening, the wire controlling the locking inside the passenger door is being earthed somewhere. Possible inside the door itself. Have the locks ever locked going over a speed bump for example?

Not to my knowledge.

How would it be earthed? Brake in a wire?
