Swing upgrade to Belero

Featured Replies

I have a 2011 Octavia and want to upgrade the swing stereo to a belero. I have the chance to get hold of a cheap belero from a superb, but have noticed that the shape is different from the Octavia belero. Having said that it looks very similar to the shape of a columbus. So my question is, will a superb belero fit in an Octavia with a dash plate for a columbus?

Thanks in advance.

:)

Have a look at this

Yeah, I've spent ages searching around the forums for an answer to this. Which is where I found out that there was a difference between a Belero for a superb and a Belero for an Octavia. But can't find anything specific to my question. Are the columbus units the same for superb and octavia (Unlike the two different belero's), if so is the columbus the same dimensions as the superb's belero? Meaning I could use a dash plate meant for octavia/columbus to fit a superbs belero into an octavia.

Cor, that seems like a right mouthful! Hope I've explianed myself ok!! :S

Searching for Bolero may yield more results.

lol

Yeah, I just noticed!!

Still struggling to find a definte answer though. Would be easier to get an Octavia Bolero. Just can't find any for sale!

I have one for sale out of my 2011 Octavia. Only used for a couple of days days, so is like new

If you want it I would need to make a trip to the dealers for the code as they need to connect it back to my car to extract the code apparently.

The bolero from the superb will fit in the octavia ... ! You just need to check if you will need to update your CAN to avoid any battery drain problems >>( just to be safe)

All you need is a fascia _ similar to one had you been fitting a columbus .. look up superskoda -- dash plates for octavia II .. I'm sure you will find what you are looking for !

What this guy said

Though regarding the CAN - if you've got a 2011 car, I'd be fairly confident that you can go ahead and swap to be honest.

Are you sure?

As far as I recall the Superb Bolero is a different shape to the Octavia Bolero and the Columbus, so I'm not sure there is a fascia that will fit it in the Octavia.

I'm sure someone will be able to verify this.

I would definitely check before buying one from a Superb.

Also, have read a few times it's just a new fascia that would be needed. The Bolero unit itself is identical to all cars.

The unit surround and control bezels from a Superb are different to that from an Octavia.

As PZ1811 said the Colombus fascia will fit. I wasnt sure the two superb units fit the same fascia.

I have upgraded from the octavia Bolero to Colombus. Still have the Bolero and original fascia (£30 from main dealer).

Thanks for the input, I might take Pooch up on his offer. Easier than changing the dash!

I've run into another snag though. My car is a lease vehicle and my plan was to just swap the stereos for the 3 years I have it then swap them back upon return. Speaking to my dealer, they said that any new stereo will need to be paired with my car (I thought the stereo just asked for the code!). Fine, but they would need to get permission from the cars owners (lease company) to do any work. I'm almost certain they will refuse any modifications to the vehicle. :(

Any ideas anyone?

You can enter the code for the Bolero - the dealer doesn't need to do anything. Just make sure you get a code with the Bolero when you buy it!

When you refit the Swing at the end of 3 years the car will have the code stored for it so won't ask for a code.
