Free 3 Year Servicing Deal

Featured Replies

Hey All,

So at the moment you can get 3 years free servicing if you buy a new car using Skoda finance.

The Skoda website doesn't really give any detail, anyone know the answers to:

Do you have a choice over going fixed or variable servicing? Seems to me you'd get more for your money going fixed and less if you went variable.

All I know so far is that it's 3 years or 30k.

I can see a trip to a dealer coming

Similar thing when I brought my used fabia. Paid outright for it and got 2 years servicing and 2 mot's for £299. The mots also come with the first £750 of repairs for free!!!

Where you on fixed servicing then rather than variable?

The three year deal is variable servicing.

The three year deal is variable servicing.

What do you reckon you'd get in terms of services? Does the first service come early?

I've read on here that variable servicing can be up to 20,000 miles and two years.

It does vary quite a bit with the type of driving, journey length, number of cold starts, the viscosity of the oil etc.

From what I've read the average is around 18,000 miles for the first service.

While three years free servicing may sound like a good deal it could actually only end up paying for one service!

Thanks for that, my current Octavia is on variable and it tends to be around 18k.

You've confirmed my thoughts, 3 years servicing sounds impressive but may only cover the first service which probably doesn't do much more than change the oil and filters.

If you compare the loan cost of Skoda finance against say a loan from Sainsbury's, there is a good £400 difference so it might actually be better to source a loan elsewhere and loose the servicing offer.

decisions decisions!!!

not worth it on variable imo. Can't you get it on 0% finance? if you can't manage the 50% deposit, just make up the shortfall with a personal loan. At least you will only have less than 50% that you are paying interest on then.

Will be going for a VRS this time so in theory not included in the 0% offer.

Seems to me the servicing offer only stacks up if they let you go fixed and you managed to squeeze 3 services out of them

I paid £120 for a service and got 18.5k out of it over 18months. So over 3 years i will have paid £240 for 3 years servicing....

My Octavia VRS has the 3 year servicing deal, I was asked if I wanted variable or fixed, as its free, O asked for fixed, its also the same on the wifes VW same sort fo deal, 3 years free servicing, again its on fixed.

  • 1 year later...

I have the cash to pay the balance remaining after my trade in but the dealer has advised me that I could benefit from taking out finance to get the free servicing. I don't understand why but to get the finance they will give me £2,500 when I collect the car. I have been told that I need to make at least three payments before I can pay off the remainder but if I do this then ask for the settlement fee to repay in full it will cost me under £200. Having read the T&C's there is a £125 arrangement fee and £60 option to purchase fee to pay when you make the final payment so I am struggling to see how the interest over 3 months will only be £15.

Has anyone else looked into this and is it likely to save me any money as I am only likely to require two services in 3 years.

Help!

I've got the 3 free services with my pcp package. I'll do 10k fixed as I do not want to leave the oil change any longer. I'm doing 20k year, so that's18 months of tyres and petrol only.

Just checked the paperwork from Sloda finance and it says you must have it on fixed and it lists what is done on each service. It is as the manual except the pollen filter that only gets changed once in 3 years, not annually. Not a problem as it is only a 5 minute job.

Ignore post #4 then, my bad.

I bought mine last October, signed for it in Sepember. the T&Cs seem to have changed slightly but I got £500 contribution and 3 years free servicing on the fixed servicing plan, i.e. 3 services. I was able to pay mine off in full straight away (I waited until I had confirmation of the service plan through first though) cost me around £70 in interest and admin fees for £500 off and 3 years free servicing.... A no brainer

Go for the finance and pay it off as soon as you can- you'll still be quids in. the servicing's worth circa £500-£550 depending on which service plan your on.

If it's the same as it was when I signed for mine YOU choose which plan variable/fixed depending on how many miles/type of driving you do. it's 3 years or 30k which ever comes 1st

.

if you do 10k or less go for the fixed service plan so you get 2 minors and 1 major service gratis

simples

Mine is fixed.

I have purchased 2 new Vrs in the last few years and both had the offer of 3 services but they have to be on fixed.

Take the Skoda finance get the cheaper servicing, not really free if you are having to take finance you otherwise would not. Pay off the Skoda finance early either with own funds or via a superior finance deal cutting out or reducing the interest costs, profit.

Salesmen/dealerships get money if you take out finance even if you then pay it off early, thus they are much more likely to be receptive to discounting the base vehicle cost if they think you will be buying on finance.
