parking sensers

Featured Replies

I have a problem with my 2003 Superb's reversing sencors. After taking these to a Skoba specialist, he informed me that the two outer sensors and the two inner sensors are intentionally different and the one on the offside is not working. Any one had this problem, anyone know or have a spare offside sensor to resolve this problem?

Thanks Tiffy

Not sure he knows what he is talking about? I had all mine out the other day (admittedly because they aren't working...) and they all have the same Part Number on them.

If you look at the link below it looks like the sensors are all the same, the different part is the internal holders (captive in the bumper) - the outside ones and the inside ones. But I doubt the holder is the broken bit?

Best to get a set of fleabay ones, put the new box where the original is and connect up, job done and no more problems.

Maybe I misunderstood him. Is there a knack in getting them out, I've prodded, squeezed, pulled and they just refused to budge. Ive checket the website, Thanks for that. now it's "Back to the drawing board".

Thank again

AFAIK all the sensors are the same,

https://picasaweb.google.com/HoveringMirage/ParkingSensor?authkey=Gv1sRgCNieqPeDzpLY0QE#5677062653558176194

The pics show the sensor and holder removed from the bumper, if you are fitting the original Italian sensors reach under the bumper and push apart the clips as shown in the pic.

We just chucked out the lot, didnt even bother to check which ones were good and fitted a set of the more reliable fleabay ones.

If you want to fit the Fleabay ones "prise" the holder out of the bumper with the sensor still in it. Push it in through the bumper while wriggling the sensor from behind. Last ones I did I refitted the original conduit and fitted the box on where the original was and used the original power wire from the reverse lights.

I might end up doing this too, if I can't get it sorted for free.

A couple of questions;

Did you leave the original speaker in place and use that, or use the speaker with the new set?

Which diameter sensors did you fit? Did you manage to find some that clipped into the factory holes snuggly or did you have to make the holes smaller?

Thanks!

James

I use these. I pushed the original senors and holders in through the bumper. Removed the original control box from its holder and stuck on the new one and connected to the original wiring. The original uses a speaker but the new ones use a buzzer so you must use it. Stick it where the old one was under the parcl shelf. To keep the wiring under the bumper tidy you can use the original conduit, just unclip the T pieces, remove the old wiring and fit the new. An advantage of the fleabay types is that if one sensor goes faulty you can disconnect it and the system will still work and of course theres the price

They may be a little loose fit in the bumper but wraping some tape around them cures this, also the dont fit as flush as the originals but its nothing you will notice. Philip

thanks for sharing! :)
