OK, so we expect every car to come out of France to be 100% reliable?

And if they aren't, they must all be rubbish then?

Is every car out of the Czech Republic reliable? Is it hell!

If you've had a couple of bad experiences then I'm sorry for you, but to then slate the entire brand is simply naive.

This is my 12 year old / 160,000 mile French car that I've just replaced with a vRS. Absolutely bullet proof. Let's hope the vRS is as good.

EEK!!! you fight dirty

I reckon that shape Picasso is one of the best value cars of all time. I drove several during my time working for Avis. The dash mounted gear lever and all the space it freed up between the front seats was very neat.

Yours was clearly as well maintained as my 306, I can see a lovely shine on the front wing in your picture!

I was genuinely upset to see her go, it's amazing how attached you get to a car after 12 years and 3 hours a day :giggle:

A lot of hate for the Citroens but strangely the only examples of poor French experiences are for Renaults. If you were to compare both french brands, you'd find the renault to be a poorer place to be. Citroens have adopted a german mentality when making their current breed of car and are doing it very good job of it. Renault sadly have not moved on as much.

Considering Mr Walrus' story, I think he chose well. Good luck with the potential family addition and enjoy.

All the best with the C5 Soapy and thanks for a great write up of your life and time with the Octy

I really like the C5 estates.. The xsara 1.9td i had was a brilliant little car.. however the laguna sport toured i part exed for my vrs was a total crock if ****..! Citroen anyday , renault ... Never again..!!

A friend threatened to buy a C5. I printed off 'What Goes Wrong from Honest J' - no personal connection with them.

He bought it anyway 'because it was cheap'.

Oh how we laughed as we ticked off the faults arising one by one. Random faults like err say the rear wiper coming on when a door was opened and other unbelievably bizarre happenings.

He has now bought a Jeep Patriot, again 'because it was cheap'. Already raved about useless dealers because of an intermittent starting problem- that's easily cured just has to be started in neutral with the clutch depressed- I guessed that was the case. RTFM as they say.

Good luck with the C5- they are certainly big and comfortable and I enjoyed one on loan.
