Intro and Diesel leak

Featured Replies

Just joined and already need some help.

Have a Diesel leak somewhere under the rear of the car.

When fueling the car, you get about 30 - 35 litres in, then it start to leak out onto the floor.

Im not sure if this can be fixed without removing the tank, i.e. from the service hatch under the rear passenger seat?

Have a friend that has the same problem on a Polo, so i guess it may be common?

Any help welcome.

thanks

It's only going to be a hole or split in the tank I guess unless there is a problem where the filler goes into the tank.

They sometimes leak from the aperture where the pump and level sender drop in but I'd expect that to leak with more than 35 litres in.

Needs to go up in the air to have a look/drop the tank.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Think I have it diagnosed.

Filled it up and made a bit of a mess at the filling station, drove home, had the back seats out and had a look through the service hatch under the back driver’s seat.

It appears the leak is coming from there, will find out what the part numbers out unless anybody knows, but I suspect it is a seal that has gone, not a pipe split.

Thanks again
