Driving off with the handbrake on gives a very definite audible warning.

I've...ahem.....tested that a couple of times.:smirk:

I've tested it LOADS if times emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Sounds like the car went into limp mode but unusual for no warning lights if the case :wonder:

Might be worth popping into a dealer to see if there are any fault codes registered.

Hope you get it sorted,

TP

thanks for suggestion

will see how it goes today,(just had a quick drive seems fine ) i checked the fuel (tastes like diesel ) as i had filled up yesterday but had been on a run of about 40/50 miles with no trouble, the fault occured going up a steep hill and continued for half a mile or so on the flat, must say i did not check engine management light at the time

thanks again will post with any further trouble

I am suspecting this was when you aplied power after coasting down the hill on "no power"? If so it seems to be vagarency of the VAG engine and injection system, and has been reported both here and on other VAG forums. I noticed it first coming down hill in Newtown, when I immediately have to apply power to climb a hill. if you quickly "blip" the throttle just before you need to reapply power it seems to solve the problem
