Fabia radiator change

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking for some advice regarding a radiator change on my Fabia 1.4 16v Comfort (X reg).

I have identified a leak from the bottom corner of the radiator (front left as standing in front of the car) and am sure as I can be that it is coming from the radiator itself, therefore a change is required. My questions are:

1. Can anyone give any advice/tips for changing a rad on the car. Planning to do it DIY rather than blow all the Xmas money at the garage!!

2. Can anyone advise on a good value supplier/part number for the rad (car has air con). I have had a look online but am just going round in circles with the different options. I am looking for a brand new rad (decent quality).

Any help would be gratefully appreciated to try and get it right first time!!.

Thanks

Chris

Quite a bit of work to fit as the front end has to come forward and be stripped down.

The leak is coming from the drivers side yeah?

Where abouts are you?

Yeah leak is on drivers side of rad.

I'm down in sussex, sorry new to this forum so not sure what info to put.

When you say the front end has to come forward, am I right to assume you mean the panel surrounding the rad including headlights etc? I am guessing it is mainly common sense and a methodical approach.

Do you know where I can find the correct rad as each website I look at seems to have different dimensions or part numbers. Don't want to get part way through changing it and turn out to have the wrong unit.

Thanks

The front bumper needs to come off, then you unbolt the lock carrier (the front end basically that holds the rad in), then unbolt the fans, take them out, unbolt the rad from the condenser, then unbolt the rad and slide it out the back towards the engine. A couple of long M8 bolts or studs screwed into where one of the main T45 bolts that holds the front panel on will make sliding it forward much easier.

Thanks very much for the advice. Fingers crossed it will go to plan!!

Sorry to ask again but any suggestions for a good reliable online supplier?

Thanks
