Coilovers, ARB's, Spacers, Drop links...

Featured Replies

Hi all

I should be getting some Weitecs from one of our members soon and I need some advice on what else I need to do to get it right.

Now I don't want it on its arse, however I do want to be low, I intend on fiiting a RARB at the same time, but do I need a front one too?

I've read about drop links, I don't even know what these are but do i need different ones?

Also spacers, I aim to have the standard 17's filling the arches nicely, and have heard I may need spacers to get the stance spot on?

Right,

lots of threads on this mate.

New Top mount

New Bearing

New locking Nut for strut bolt

New Nut for the Drop link

one set of these for each side.

No need to do the drop links unless the rubber boots on them are broken. They are not cheap at £20+ each. when you hear of the D/L needing doing if dropping lower than x amount they are talking about the std ones that go from the ARB to the wishbone. the vRS ones are from the ARB to the shock Strut.

Unless you are getting some proper good quality spacers mate, I would not bother, personally I wouldnt bother ne way as it will bugger up the rear alignment. I used only 5mm spacers on the front only at first and that was really twitchy, then 5mm on the rear too and that improved but over 60 mph I get a wobble that gets worse with speed. I normally use LCR rims to clear my Brembo brakes but have just today put the std brakes back on to do some tests and I can say already the wobble seems to have gone. Only thing is the std brakes are crap in comparrison.

No need to get a bigger FARB unless your getting a 25mm > RARB then yes you could do with the 23mm FARB off the R32 Golf

Spot on billy cheers! I did see lots of threads it nothing definitive, sure this will help a lot of people in the future!

kk amte, glad to help.

if your struts have never been off I would also get new bolts too as they get very corroded and crappy.

Ill get the PN out for you if you need them but iirc they are in the PN thread mate.
