What Brakes

Featured Replies

I got some bad wobble when breaking im guessing the discs are warped so going to replace all dics and pads was thinking EBC ones anyone else using these?

Just get OEM Pagid from somewhere like ECP.

Also there is no such thing as a warped disk, it will have worn uneven.

Have you had a wheel bearing done?

not had a bearing done that i know of. so do i need to get them all changed?

Yep I have EBC......and just replaced allround from the older 5GD to the newer 3GD discs and greenstuffpads....much quieter and better! B)

They are not better than OEM. My car had green stuff on when I bought it and they were nothing short of utter sht.

Usually a new wheel bearing that was not fitted perfectly flat causes unevenly worn disks. As you have not had that done just get new standard. ECP have 20% off at the moment as well!!

This is what you can expect from Greenstuff pads! All 4 of my rears were the same!

^^^ +1 greenstuff = dangerous in my book. Go with oem or standard discs with ferodo ds2500 pads (I think).

^^^^^^^^ Dangerous???????? a bit extreme as the greenstuff pads and the 5GD & 5DG discs exceed the relevant standards for road use! and they have manufacturing places in the UK!!

As for the pad friction material seperating from the backing plate....seen that on other makes....NO pad is immune from that happening!

I've run EBC for the past 7years no probs.....and I think the newer stuff is better/quieter etc....maybe the above posters got a duff batch???......or imitations????? :S

And a grooved disc is way better than a plain disc.......the grooves help get rid of hot gasses, deglaze the pads....and most importantly they help get rid of stones....so no more stones trapped between the pad and the disc......has this happened to me several times on different cars with plain discs!...swapped to grooved discs...no more problems!!

After 14 years of driving many cars, over 20 track days (4 of which at the 'ring and lapping under 9 mins pace) I have not once needed grooved disks. I have also never had an issue with stones.

Have I tried them? Yes and also snapped a set of Brembo drilled.

In terms of pads I used ds3000s so you can imagine the heat and force the plain disks take.

Do basically there is just no way you need to use grooved etc for the road.

Performance aside they also look a joke, like it's some sort of max power special!!!!!
