anyone had dpf remap and stage 2 remap on octy vrs also anybody heard of injector problems on pd 170 vrs diesal any help will be appreciated thanks

Hey Newbie, Ive just bought a 2007 Vrs diesel 2 litre and had an injector go within the first six weeks. Luckily it wqs under warranty but it was a little upsetting to hear that this seems to be a known fault. Decided to take out an extended warranty to cover any mechanical failure in case any of the others decide to follow suit. Im also thinking of getting the remap done, and would be very interested to hear from anyone who has had experience, good or bad with it.

Also , can someone suggest a reason for a slightly rough/ lumpy running at low revs in forth gear at about 45 mph ?

Had DFP removed and remapped by Ben at Shark Performance. Very happy with result. That was back in July this year. I put the the car through it's MOT last week, and no problems at all - made no difference to emmissions test.

I got the DPF mod done because I had a DPF light on and the car was in safe mode. I suspect now that the safe mode was due to a faulty brake switch, which has been in and out since. The DPF / safe mode cleared on the motorway driving down to Shark, so I got a good chance to see it run before / after the re-map.

The difference was astonishing. Completely blown away by it at the time. According to Ben the BHP went from 170 to somewhere between 205 and 220.

Four months on I'm still impressed, although as with all things you get used to the extra power and want more. There is some smoke out the back when I'm flooring it - occasionally, but not always. I think fuel economy is better, when I remember to ease off the accelerator - I do about 250 miles per week, out of which 180 is motorway, and I did seem to be paying out less in diesel after the remap, even with the extra thrashing I gave it until the novelty had worn off.

Insurance also turned out to be cheaper - had to move from Direct Line to Adrian Flux because of the modification, and ended up saving money there. It does mean you're limited to a couple of insurance companies who will tough modified cars, so whether or not I get shafted at renewal time remains to be seen.

Best of luck with it.

Steve

great post steviep, just the sort of info i've been looking for

Ive had the DPF removed and remap carried out by Jabba Sport. I'll echo Steviep's sentiments, best thing i've ever done to the car. My car is sitting around the 200bhp mark but it has 339 lb ft of torque which is pretty awesome. I've found my driving style change quite considerably after this mod as the extra torque allows you to be a much smoother driver. My fuel consumption dropped as well by several MPG's. Win win really.

Had my Car for 2 years now, running for around 1.8years with DPF Delete from JBS, First MOT was a problem, My car was heavily smoking but it turned out that the injector seals where actually knackered once replaced the car is fine now.

A few friends also have the Shark Performance DPF Delete

I want mine done before christmas, and still cant make up my mind. Ive considered opitions from morebhp.com, shark performance, bluefin from superchips, tuneit. Cant decide to have stage 1 or 2, with ot wothout dpf delete :'(

Go see Shark, there mapping is done on the RR

Myself and a friend from SCN both have PD170 Leons, We both had them done by JBS ages ago i have since had my Map updated by JBS. His car on the original Map from JBS made pathetic power on the Shark RR, Shark's tuner (Mikko) then spent the best part of 5 hours tunning and running the car and after, The Shark "Race" Map for the PD170 pi55ed allover the Original JBS Map, My "Newer" JBS was still producing slightly less power than the Shark "Race" Map. When we finally got the car out on the road it made my JBS Powered leon feel flat, even though on the RR it only had like 6bhp less

Companies like Morebhp etc will just flash your ecu, Remove the inside of the DPF and thats it, No RR Testing or anything

Cant decide to have stage 1 or 2, with ot wothout dpf delete :'(

What would be the difference from Stage 1 and 2? Not just approx power but parts wise?

Stage 1 is simply a generic remap

Stage 2 is DPF Delete Pipe or Eptied DPF plus Mapping, This can also include Exhaust like a Milltek Cat-Back

Thanks for the reply Andrew. Does the Miltek exhaust offer extra power on TDIs then? I was not aware of performance exhausts for dervs... Any others out there for Octy PDs?

Not sure if Milltek make them for Octavia,

It sounds alot better, Looks better and add's a little more grunt

The only thing thats bothering me is the distance, and the trek back if I need anything looking at / fixing

Don't rule out more-bhp, you don't get 100% Ebay feedback by selling rubbish remaps. They sell DNA maps which I have and I can confirm they are superb :)

Morebhp an hour away, shark more like 2.5. I've had an email conversation with morebhp and was quite happy with what they had to say, as well as their current offer of a stage 1 remap forr 199

Although I'm STILL unsure whether to have a stage 1 or dpf delete

Not saying MoreBHP aint any good but what im saying is they simply flash your car, Shark is Run on the RR and adjusted and then tested on the Road

I know theres some difference between flashing the Ecu and a map but can anyone explain in layman's terms the main differences with pros and cons that would be great

I think you're getting a little mixed up or I'm reading it wrong. Flashing the ECU is what the tuner does when he remaps, you're getting a modified map flashed to your ECU.

As a rule Shark will just flash your ECU with their new map (very good map might I add), or send you it by Email if you buy the STS unit.

If you have problems or want to have your car RR'd anyway they have that facility. But they don't RR every car,

I have a Shark stage 1 and think its superb by the way.

that makes sense....so a company like morebhp.com would flash my ecu with a 'generic' map, whereas ben at shark will 'create' a (bespoke?) map for my car using the RR and other testing methods?

999pooch's post has confused me again....

if i'm reading it rightly, both companies will do exactly the same for me (i.e flash my ecu) but the consensus of opinion id that shark performance maps are better(?) than morebhp???

not as a rule. see my post above.

I'm sure they would create a bespoke map, just costs more money!

yeah!!!

Shark have the ability to Rolling road and create bespoke maps. however as a rule there standard mapping service is the same.

In my opinion Shark maps are one of the best.

Also if you have problems they have excellent back up service, and can tweak maps using the rolling road and their extensive technical knowledge.

hope that helps.
