The Fabia progress blog :)

Featured Replies

Hi, my name is Jason and I'm fairly new to the Skoda scene. Im 18 and I passed my test in august 2010 and I had a little 1.25 Zetec fiesta which I thought was nippy at the time but the point of the fact was it was **** and I wanted something different than everyone else that went my college (daddy's boys with there polo's, new fiesta's, corsa etc) So I was going to buy a little 106 and put a gti engine in it until a friend of my dads got a VIC check on it the day before I was going to buy it and it turned out it had been shelled. So he said he would sort me out with a decent car as he owned loads of garages mainly vw Skoda and Nissan :) so a couple of days later he rang me up and he had my Fabia that I own today :)

Spec of my Fabia:

Elegance model

2003

1.9tdi pd100

56k (when I bought it)

heated seats

A/C

5 speed

1 granny owner from new

bought and serviced at the same garage every year and she traded it in for a new Fabia

So I bought it in February (when I was still 17 so I could afford the insurance on a vrs) and he sold it me for the trade in price (cheep as chips for what its worth)

Here is some pics :)

sorry for crappy pics its all on my iPhone

de-wiper

HID's

vrs bumpers

remap

cruise control

then in the future I want to do the inside so vrs door cards and leather seats

etc.. I want to go euro style :)

Badges taken of:

Hate how high it looks in that photo :L

Sprayed the lips of the wheels 'alloy wheel silver'

Also the front bumper isnt sitting right at the sides because the vrs brackets are different to the ones that I have originally on my car so does anyone know where I can get some?

An of course it looked weird having no exhaust so I was advises by HuxleyVRS to go to a powerflow dealer in leek called silver sistems to get a mufflereactomy (cheers HuxleyVRS for the advise)

A lad called Chirs did it for me for £80 and i like it :) it doesnt sound much different but it has a bit more of a roar and it looks alryt.. I went for the 2x2.5 inch tip.

I know yeah I love it now, there is only one main mark on the front bumper which is a bit of a dint/bump thing but it came up cheap and the same colour so I had it :)

And yeah I'm thinking of getting it smoothed eventually but for the meantime I am going to order some retro badges of pasty boy :) cheers tho

Yeah I want to but apparently it's bonded to the boot so I'm guessing I will need to buy the whole boot?

And then after that would that be everything on the exterior apart from the wheels obvously that different with the vrs?

Thanks anyway :D

Yeah thinking of selling them though as I want to put my old wheels back on.

Yeah they look class. :)

Yeah they look class. :)

Agreed. They do look class.

Everyone likes sick looking steelies... I'd offer to buy em myself but i'm in the process of refurbing montreal 2's and the missus says no. lol!

Odd question would it not been cheaper not to do all these mods ie remap alloys bumpers, and just brought a vrs model in the first place, I mean surley the price of your insurance must have gone up quite a bit with all the mods? Thus outweighing the price difference on a standard vrs.

As far as I remember each of these motors needs a new timing belt every 60,000 miles or 4 years. Check the service history if you can for each of these for that work. Also, I know from experience that the older 1.4 engine (8v) drank like anything. Even with the smaller engine the 1.2 should be more economical. Best of luck.

cheers so with regards for the pricing does it sound like a fair deal or not.. obviously its a gamble buying privatly but with 0 previous owners from new (that owner being a middle aged private school teacher) you would think it has been well looked after?

do both these models have a reputation for any faults of problems other than the one you mentioned - i mean im having it for a first time car so i dont wanna fork out a bundle of cash after buying either one to fix it up?

Yeah thinking of selling them though as I want to put my old wheels back on.

Jason whats the centre cap on them? Never seen that before

Well this one came up really cheep for what it was and the insurance don't take much of me for all the mods :) I also haven't spent much in the mods themselves just waited till the right ones came up at the right price :)
