VRS mudflaps

Featured Replies

I need mudflaps for my vrs estate. I have read most of the mudflap threads on the site and have not found what i want!

Options -

1) OEM flaps - these seem to offer very little protection

2) Rallyflaps - good protection but are excessive!

Is there anything in between? Anything on other VAG cars that may suit?

Thanks

My OEM rear mudflaps that DO FIT....offer good protection..No more crap flying up under the rear bumper.

What protection are you after??

I think Lloydy means he wants normal modern looking flaps that do the job and not be forced to buy the 80's retro looking giant rally flaps. But aa he seems to know having been one of first posters in ages to have used the search function is that its not the easiest thing to find :(

If your really stuck could get rally flaps and trim then a little more to what you want I used the non FL flaps on my FL I think as they were a little bigger and angular rather than a overly rounded corner of FL ones but on my hatch while it didn't eliminate the muck being spread it cut it by a good 75% which im happy with.

Hi when i bought my vRS Le Estate from what is now DM Keith of York, i wanted mudflaps but was told that Skoda OEM mudflaps will not fit the rear of a vRS estate , my mate was told the same by Chapmans of Pickering. The fronts fit fine but no rears, are you saying you can fit rears? I know that they fit the vRS hatch. Has anyone got OEM Skoda flaps on the rear otf their vRS estate?

Toddie

Fronts will fit no problem, takes 5 mins. The rears were a pain and gave up, if you take the wheels off and drill out the holes hey fit. Then you have a gap at the bottom...not worth the effort.

Assume your just running with the fronts on then?

Any downside to not having flaps on the rears? About to order to a new vRS so curious!

Ran the fronts since the day I got it home! I'd also have ventureshield fitted in the showroom to stop any stone chip damage on the front end.

You have got it in one! Interesting to hear that your OEM flaps cut 75% of the dirt.

It's looking like I might have to use your idea of trimming the rally flaps.

Problem with those ones from ebay is that there is nothing for them to screw into on the rear.

Get some pics up if you do that could be a good success story for a nice compromise. Surly it can't be all that muddy about Lisburn? Before rears I got the typical coating of muck but after its only really limited to the under side of bumper where it curves in and only back about half way towards rear not up sides at all!

Those ebay ones would be more to my taste if no skoda badge on them but no holes on them is a good enough thing as they are fairly generic flaps you can do the same as OEM ones and just make your own holes to quit where wheel arch lining screws are and piggy back on those just take a lot longer to get them dead straight!

ps what colour and year is your estate? ive seen a blue pre FL one in Lisburn 2 or 3 months ago near Tescos.

How much was the ventureshield? Thinking of getting my freshly painted front bumper done....

It was £300 for the whole front inc front of bonnet, chrome, mirrors, fogs, drls and top of rear bumper.

Was that for full bonnet??? or just the first 1/3 ish? Good price if for the whole thing! Defo worth a good machine polish before fitting to lock in some nice shine!

Thats cheap - i only want the front bumper done, will have to get a price from where i got my tints done....

Hi,

I have been looking at getting some standard octavia mudlflaps for my VRS Hatch. Can i just clarify, will these fit the Hatch. It says on skoda website not suitable for VRS or Scout, Does this just apply to Estate Vrs?

Yes they do fit the vRS hatchback, with some gentle persuasion (drop them into a bucket of hot water just before fitting them, this will allow you to move them enough to get them to fit and when they cool they mould back to the profile of the bumper better).

See this similar thread (search function is your friend  ):

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/210575-vrs-rear-mudflaps/page__hl__mudflaps

This thread also details two types of mudflap (older square profile & newer rounded profile), order up the newer ones (be our guinea pig!) as the fitment is the same and post some pictures so we can what they look like!

Thanks for the info, very handy. I shall certainly try and get some of the new ones, cant see any on ebay or on the net anywhere at the moment, they all seem to be the square style. I will keep trying.

Love the pics of the car by the way, mine is race blue aswell!:)

Out of interest...is the exhaust on yours standard?

Not my vRS, I stole the pictures from another thread :giggle:

However, yes the exhaust (or at least the visible tailpipes) are standard vRS ones.

There are some of the rounded profile mudflaps listed on eBay, the seller has two eBay listings, both are Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield.

A word of warning though, you should send them a message to clarify before buying as they have used the same image and part numbers for both listings (older sqaure profile - KEA 600 001).

The only difference in the listing is in the title, one has "2005 - 2009" which will be the square profile, the other lists "2009 >" which should be the latest round profile.

For the rounder flaps you need KEA 600 001 A
