Skoda Felicia keeps cutting out after 3 seconds

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone help me?

My P-reg, 1.2 petrol skoda felicia keeps cutting out after about 3 seconds. My friend and I have checked the fuel pump and relay (both seem to be working fine) and we have changed the fuel filter as we thought that it may be blocked and starving the engine of fuel.

Despite all this, the problem hasn't been resolved.

Cheers.

It's an immobiliser issue if it's runs for 3 seconds than cuts out..

Have you had the steering column out at any time? Changed the ecu? Give me something to get the old crystal ball kickstarted.

Thanks tom. I haven't got as far as the steering column as yet. Will get back to you on that!

The best place to start is reading the fault codes from the immobiliser module and going from there

Cheers Tom. Do you know of a way to by-pass the ECU, or immobilise the immobiliser (!?) Despite being very reliable the car has only got another year or two left in it. I dont wanna have to throw a load of money at it if I can help it, and I reckon that this job would need doing at a garage as it sounds too technical for me!! Thanks again.

Have you got a spare key? Give that a try.

Thanks for your post Anewman. Yes I have a spare key, and I have tried it already but I will definately have another go with it before carrying out an immobiliser by-pass.

There's no way to bypass the immo unit easily, and it's not really a subject for an Internet forum anyway... Too many twoccers might read up on how to nick them..

Regarless of this it's probably easier to fix the fault anyway.
