1.2 TSI 105hp NOISES

Featured Replies

After 8k miles with my 4/2011 roomster tsi 105hp I am pretty satisfied of its engine and particularly for economy and torque values.

Though, I noticed that the engine seems to be getting more rumbling at low revs vith the passing of time and miles (or km in my case...).

Furthermore, I am constantly hearing a ticking noise coming from the engine. A service guy told me it is normal and it is coming from the injection. Lately, it seems like this noise has become louder.

Has anybody experienced the same, or it is just an impression of mine, having become accustomed to the engine's own noises?

And, has anybody had the ECU updated and noticed those noises had diminished after the update?

What kind of fuel do you use? I used to hear rattling noises (sounds like supermarket cart :giggle: ) in low revs, but since I've moved to 98 octane, the engine became quite and smooth.

Just like as you describe it. My car is 17 months old and has 22.983Km on clock. I hear that ticking sound too but some times is louder and some other not that much, so i didn't contact my dealer yet since there is no other weird symptoms or warning lights and the car runs fine. It could be the petrol but I cannot find 98 Ron petrol. There is only 100RON or 95RON, so I use 95RON petrol only.

The last sound i found out is a weird tick sound that comes from water pump. I was looking for the source of the ticking and as I was under the hood seeking and searching then a periodic sound like breaking the plastic bottle seal cap reached my ears. It is not sure that you will hear it because it happens when the car decides to perform that sound and the hood must be open. After looking and asking what that sound could be I found out that it is a water pump relay clicking as he opens to release more coolant (or something like that) and it is absolutely normal. You can hear the sound here at my friend's Polo, who asked his dealer and received the answer i wrote above.

I think 1.2Tsi is not just an engine, but the house of sound itself. Personally she reminds me old Singer sewing machines

This is the most fitting definition of that noise I have read so far!
