I've seen it done a W8 Passat, does that have VCDS? I'm not familiar with what VCDS is lol

No VCDS is a diagnostics interface that plugs into the cars OBD II port enabling you to change certain setting on the car.

Had it done on the bora so see no reason why not. I think you have to use Vag tacho though.

The dials on the pre FL car are definately electronic. if it can be done on a Bora ( which surprised me) i'm sure it can be done on the pre FL?

They are all electronic. If you do an output test in Vag com on the instruments it will tell you as it will test all the dials. I have a photo somewhere of the bora doing 140mph!
