Windscreen Washer

Featured Replies

Just before I start grovelling around outside,

I want someone to check over my logical thinking for a Windscreen washer problem.

Skoda Octavia VRs - No headlight washers fitted.

Pulling the stalk towards causes the Windscreen Wiper motor to move, front and rear, however no noise coming from the pump.

The 20amp Fuses are not blown in the Fusebox, so i don't think its a fuse, so this should point to a Washer Pump problem/Connection rather than the switch gear inside ?

Many Thanks :)

Pulling the wiper stalk forward should only make the front jets fire, pushing the stick away from you should cause the rear wiper to wipe, and then a further push should trigger the rear jet.

If you are not hearing any pump action then either the switch, fuse or pump could be at fault.

Looking at my Haynes manual, it suggest F24 (20a) is the one which drives the pump, but you say the fuses are ok, so that rules that bit out.

I think I would try and inject 12v directly to the pump motor and see if it works then. After that I would see if what voltages are at the pump when the wiper stalk is in various positions.

Yep or get a meter and test voltage at the pump wiring when triggering with the stalk.
