VRS hard to get hold of.

Featured Replies

So upon visiting the local dealer today to collect my vrs,new abs module,i was talking to him about trading it in for a Fabia. He then advises me to hold on to the octy vrs as they are now holding the value well and are hard to come by,not many around for sale either.

I have noticed you don't see alot of octy vrs on the forecourt nowadays, just would like to know other opinions on this matter, what do you think...

Rubbish! I don't think i've seen a Skoda dealer without an Octavia vRS on the forecourt! When I got mine a couple of weeks ago they had 5 or 6 others.....

Just go on the Skoda UK website and do a used car search.

Sounds weird surly he would have been more than happy to take yours in trade and have this hard to find much demanded car instead.......

Well this is the thing,i was a bit taken back by his response, expecting to have to fight him off so to speak into not trading in the VRS.

I will say though i do drive past the dealer now and again and sometimes stop to have a look, don't seem to see any octy vrs about,

Weird.Maybe its just in my area,a few were in the dealers tonight looking at octy estates.

Ask for a price and see how keen they are..

U will probably walk away when they say oh sorry it's done xxxx miles and will only attract a certain type of buyer so we could only give u £xx,xxx for it.

Bla bla bla...

Balls. Tried trading in the VRS recently and was told quite bluntly on a few occasions that they didn't want my car or any other big petrol. Trade in offers were really bad and I was warned they were going down fast.

Go to Parkers get the trade in price and knock off a grand.

Plenty of them about Dolla and most are at franchised dealers. I was contemplating getting rid of mine however, after looking at the prices dealers are charging for newer 2nd hand ones I think I'll stick with it :giggle:

Traded my VRS to a dealer last week. There are plenty out there if you look for them.

There are actually fewer petrol VRS about now - a major source of these cars around 3 - 4 years old is ex-company cars, and many companies are excluding petrol engines from their fleets. User-choosers like paying less tax, and even with the diesel loading, it's usually the cheaper tax option. Also, private buyers are now opting more and more for diesel engines in the (sometimes mistaken) belief that diesels will give them a lower overall cost of ownership.

The salesman's attitude will depend on if he is buying or selling! :D

I had to look hard to find my petrol VRS in the spec that I wanted. And I fully intend on hanging onto it. B)

,,,,,,,, another reason why I bought the oil burner. The petrol VRS was appealing initiallty but they are losing money faster than driving them off a cliff which is a real shame.

If I may add, MK1 Fabia VRS's seem to be holding a good price, You don't see that many about. But I must agree Octavias VRS's are plentyful.

Well after having a think,i'll probably keep it for a while longer maybe 12months.

Do like the look of the monte carlo fabia but not thrilled on the power side, the vrs version would of liked a manual instead of DSG.

Noticed the octy appears to be motoring better since i got it back, seems to be reving better and start up is quicker. They must of done some update whilst they had it on diagnostics, unless its my mind playing tricks on me. :wonder:

Plenty about? What age, milege, condition, location?

Yes, we can all go on AutoTrader and see plenty of VRS's...

Having just traded mine in, I feel qualified to contribute :)

I used a combination of parkers and approximately 4 other online free sites to get a range of between £5600 and £6500 - this is a 07 plate TFSI with 55k. I wanted 6k based on these valuations, and got it without any fuss - even with a very loud exhaust pipe bolted to it.

You mean you sold it with the DP and piper system?!! :wall:

Yup - got fed up with all the half interest in the end, local dealer had a car I wanted and wasn't phased by the exhaust - job done.

I had a bit of a shock with offers to chop my vrs against another car this week, one dealer offered £7250 for my 2 year old car i nearly sparked him out needless to say i didnt hang around!! Going by the other offers ive had aswell you might aswell give the car away!!!

I got offered 12.5 for mine with 9500 on it with DSG, rear sensors and spare wheel. Pretty unhappy about that. Gonna keep it another year when I guess the finance is less and the financial hit isn't as bad.

There are a few of them around in stock as new cars and there are a fair number around in the used market too. They are always good sellers though.
