Fabia 2 Glove box lights

Featured Replies

I see from other threads on here that there is a common problem with glove box light

not switching off. I jhave that problem!! Someone suggested that the switch is not mounted properly and is 'an easy fix'.

Where is this switch mounted please? is it easy to get to?

Thanks

D

The switches do fall out.

You need to remove the head unit and the surrounding trim then the switch is mounted on the right hand side of the glovebox

I normally drill a small hole in the switch and use a self tapping screw to secure it so it can't fall out again.

Thanks Tech1e...is this the point where the plastics break and I need new ones!!!!

Special keys for the head unit??

No keys required for head unit as its screwed in. Pretty easy to take apart, shouldn't break anything.

OK thanks for that. I'll give it a go when I have daylight to work in. For the time being the bulb is removed.

I too have a Fabia 2 with a glove box switch problem. As described by 'Tech1e' I removed the cd/radio unit bezel, removed the four screws which secure the unit, slid the unit out but found that I still could not get at or even see the switch because, on the Fabia 2, the cd/radio unit is housed within a close fitting box recess which is moulded as part of the center consol. This recess provides no access to the side of the glove box or switch. The center consol appears to be secured by about 5 accessible screws plus one much less accessible screw low down within the box recess.

So what is the easiest way to get at the switch?

Bulb is hot straight after opening the lid?

Look when the car is in darkness?

Photo with delay camera inside glovebox?

There may well be more!!!!

The light should go off right before you close and lock the lid - well it does on mine. Just raise the lid as close as you can to the rest of the compartment while looking through.
