i pad advice

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen this Pad at the Carphone Wharehouse, (Archos 70 Internet Tablet), I wonder if anyone has any thoughts and how does it fare against this (APPLE iPod touch 32GB - 4th Generation), the first is £100 and the Apple is £125. I only want one for E Mailing when on holiday and possibly storing photos on till I get home. Thanks Diane.

You'd do better to have a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S2.

You can do emailing, photos, surf the web etc. And if you insert a 32Gb MiSDHC card into it, you'll have far more memory than that of an Ipad & the battery will last 3x longer too. You can also buy a Samsung Galaxy S2 for substantially less than a Ipad.

Get apple nothing else comes close end of!, we run only apple here iPad, iPad 2 , iPhone 3 & 4 ,mac mini , MacBook pro, MacBook first generation and iMac don't bother with anything else, archos is ok but there are better out there check gadget show website for comparison they've just done a comparison ;)

I agree with seboni121, Apple is the future.

In relation to RAM, my iPad has 64Gb memory with is MUCH more than the galaxy will ever have, AND it has a much more advanced dual-core processor too.

With 10 hours batter life, that's pretty substantial in a mobile device.

I think you've mis-read the question Warren.

IMO the iTouch will be the better bet for what you're after and that's a very good price too.

Samsung's Tab offerings are quite good.

On a side by side test in Argos, both seemed evenly matched, with the added bonus you can mod the OS ;)

I don't think anyone has answered your question yet, have they?

I take it you'd like to spend only around £100 and your choices are an Android based tablet and an iPod touch?

I'm not exactly sure on the Archos android setup, it could be one of those hobbled installs where you don't get the apps Market. Even so I imagine that the 7" screen will be easier for doing email and its probably easier to get photos from a memory card to the Archos than it will be to a iPod touch - although I'm not exactly sure how.

I think the iPod touch's advantages lie elsewhere.

APPLE iPod touch 32GB - 4th Generation, .......and the Apple is £125.

Where did you actually see it at this price??

I have an advent vega, emails and photos its perfect, use it at work offshore, great for travelling,

Under £190 now aswell so far cheaper than the i-pad, but it comes with HD output, USB, bluetooth and Wifi.

Not really RAM though is it, it's just storage. 64GB in a tablet would be seriously impressive! and wasted! emoticon-0105-wink.gif How much more than a GS-II does one cost though, bearing in mind it does less. . .

Out of the two, I'd take the Archos, IF it's a proper install of Andriod, and not one of those half-hearted cut down attempts, much as Diaking says.

You say storing photos on - how do you intend to get them onto it - off a camera? If so, I don't think either of those will let you copy them across directly, you'll need a PC as a middle man first. . . As such, it might be worth considering a cheap netbook or something? Like this: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/22896700/HP-Compaq-Mini-110-3000SA-Windows-7-Netbook/Product.html?_%24ja=tsid:11518|cat:22896700|prd:22896700

Don't forget - if you get an Apple product, there will be a 'fantasic' new version that 'changes everything' (read: nothing), with all the features you'd expect in an £x00 device in the first place - such as a camera, copy and paste etc. Although you do get the lovely warm feeling of knowing you're bank-rolling Apples anti-everything law suits! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I used to hate apple with a passion. Bought an iPod 2nd gen about 4 years ago, since then I have been fully converted. I now run an iPad 2, and an iPhone, have had the 1st gen iPad, and a 3g iPhone through to the 4s now.

I have literally just been playing on a mates samsung tab, and tbh it is supposed to be the biggest rival to the iPad, and well, I'm not convinced, screen res is alot lower than the iPad, and the OS just seems to be a rip-off of the iOS. imo, its like a rep of the iPad but cheaper, tbh, it feels like a flea market knock off.

IMO go apple, you'll always regret not goiing with apple afterwards.

Simply add a bigger card to the tab or most tablets and you can have a 128gb or higher.

You can't change Apple products memory.
