Hi all,

Fitted a new HU yesterday and it has a USB & AV input that I wish to locate in my jumbo box.

I had a look at the console by removing trim around gearstick didn't see any screws there.

I flipped down the rear ashtray and saw 2 screws that would need removing however I saw another 2 further down and I think they were about where the slope/handbrake is so no access from above presumably?? I have hands like shovels so no chance of reaching them through where the rear ashtray is!

Any pointers greatly appreciated, mine's an FL if it makes a difference!?

Should be a link in my sig to my jumbo box retrofit thread, should be everything you need in there, and plenty of pics.

Be warned though it's a bit of a ballache, if I were you I'd be tempted to route your cables to the top centre storage box instead. Access is *much* easier.

I've just had a look at the car after reading your thread and after an opinion and your experience of doing the job!

Because I want to run a cable from behind the climate controls to the jumbo box, I can access the front by removal of ashtray and geat gaitor.

At the back I can remove rear vents and ashtray, my question is looking at your thread the armrest itself is seperate from the console and the console slots over the top of it, the 2 material sides (at back) can they be removed by lifting the rear of the console up to reveal the side of the jumbo box?

Unfortunately not, the material is actually glued over plastic sides and the entire console is 1 piece, i.e. the jumbo box storage area itself is part of the same piece of plastic as the sides that are underneath the material bits.

If you wanted to angle the whole thing up from the back I'm 99% certain you'll have to unscrew the joins at the front, either side of the ashtray infront of the gear stick.
